It’s a good thing I found a career where I can tell stories with pictures and not words.
Whenever I write I contract nearly fatal writer’s block. Every time we almost lose the article on the table. Touch and go the whole time. So I hope this ‘about’ page isn’t too painful and you get a clear sense of who I am and why I draw a lot.
I guess on an about page you’re supposed to have some kind of great stories or facts. I have problems thinking of anything too special or outstanding to write. It’s pretty much the same string of middle-class circumstances, good-choices, poor-choices, second chances, and finding a way to make a living at what I love to do.
I want to live so that nothing gets in the way of using my God-given talents and situations to their utmost ability to improve other’s lives. I’ve had a lot of amazing and patient people that have helped me along: parents and family, pastors, mentors, teachers and my wife, to name a few; and I want to continue that tradition.
Although I create for a lot of different organizations and in many different capacities I have a soft spot for illustration for kids and families. As cheesy as it sounds, our children are our future, and maybe if we can imbue in them a great sense of love and optimism, then our future won’t be as bad as the naysayers predict. I’d rather not know if the world is going to end tomorrow anyway…I don’t think I would do the dishes as often if I was in constant fear of nuclear holocaust.
So there you go, a little about me. And if you still want my vital stats:
Education: Bachelor’s in Illustration with a heavy emphasis in Graphic Design from Indiana Wesleyan University, 2003. I’m also finishing my Master’s in Painting. Next Up: MFA in Illustration. Thanks for stopping by!
Dan
